How long is the outdoor pool season?

COSPA’s outdoor pool season usually runs approximately 80 days. Outdoor pools usually open on the Father’s Day weekend in June and close on Labour Day in September. Some outdoor pools may open earlier and stay open longer. Consult the pool’s profile page on the COSPA website for detailed schedule information.

What time can I go swimming?

All schedules at the eight COSPA outdoor pools are subject to change based on the time of year, rentals, programs, special events and weather conditions. For the most up-to-date information, please check the pool’s online registration page or phone the outdoor pool of your choice to confirm swimming schedules.

Is the water heated at the outdoor pools?

Yes, all COSPA pools and wading pools are heated at a water temperature of approximately 27 degrees Celsius.

Do any COVID-19 restrictions remain in place?

COVID-19 safety restrictions have been lifted, including wearing masks, social distancing, and capacity limitations. In some cases, pool capacity may be reduced, due to staffing limitations.

Can I use my City of Calgary Indoor Swimming Pool annual, monthly or multi-admission pass at any of the COSPA outdoor pools?

COSPA pools are owned by the City of Calgary and follow the city’s aquatic facility guidelines and regulations.

Do outdoor swimming pools offer swimming lessons?

Swimming lessons are offered at COSPA outdoor pools and follow the Lifesaving Society program. Lessons are typically offered in a week-long format during weekday mornings. Some pools may also offer evening lessons. Please register online for swimming lessons at the outdoor pool of your choice.

Are Red Cross swimming lessons still offered?

The Canadian Red Cross ended their swimming lesson program in 2022 and COSPA pools offer swimming lessons following the Lifesaving Society program. If you or your child previously completed Red Cross, YMCA, or I Can Swim lessons and you’d like to find their equivalent level, check the following transition charts:

Can I use my Recreation Fee Assistance Card at COSPA pools?

Walk-in customers can present their Recreation Fee Assistance cards at the door for 50% off public swim. The cards cannot be used when booking a swim online.

I need to cancel my swim time, what is COSPA’s Cancellation Policy?

Can I transfer my child’s swim lessons to another date?

Swim lessons must be paid for at the time of booking. Swim lessons are not refundable or transferable.

What are the guidelines and regulations for using a COSPA pool?

COSPA outdoor pools do not accept any City of Calgary annual, monthly or multi-admission passes from any Department.
